Chakana Fowler

Chakana Fowler is Vice President and Senior Relationship Manager in Bank of America’s Healthcare, Education & Not-for-Profit (HENFP) business. In her role, she leads a team of bankers and client support professionals who deliver strategic and innovative financial advice to leaders of healthcare systems, private universities, foundations, cultural, professional and social service organizations. Chakana advises healthcare clients on a range of financial issues that impact capital structure, financial operations, investment management, employee support, risk management, and digital strategies.
Chakana’s finance career began in debt capital markets where she was an investment grade credit research analyst at Morgan Stanley. She later joined the Syndicated & Leveraged Finance team at JPMorgan as an Associate where she arranged multi-billion dollar debt financings for companies undergoing restructuring. Prior to joining Bank of America in 2019, Chakana served as Founder & CEO of Violet Square where she managed a philanthropic venture capital fund that supported education entrepreneurs in Florida; advised foundations on their education-focused investment strategies; and advised state and local education agencies on financial management. Her education career began in the classroom as a middle school mathematics teacher in the Bronx.
Chakana received an MBA from Columbia University where she was a Robert Toigo Finance Fellow; an MS in Mathematics Education from The City University of New York where she was a New York City Teaching Fellow; and a BS in Accounting from the University of Miami where she was a Golden Drum Scholar and a Morgan Stanley Richard B. Fisher Scholar. She is part of Leadership North Carolina’s Class 30.
